Suraj is Associate Vice President on the Mag Mile Capital Originations & Business Development team. Suraj combines his first-hand experience as a Certified Hotel Owner (CHO) and property manager, with Mag Mile Capital’s extensive network of institutional and individual investors, to secure short and long-term debt for owners of hotels and other commercial real estate nationwide.

Prior to Mag Mile Capital, Suraj was a Commercial Real Estate Analyst for the national hotel management firm Sunstar Management, Inc. In this position, Suraj directed hotel operations for six of the hotel management’s hotels, managed PIP budgets, negotiated commercial office lease agreements, analyzed potential investment opportunities and procured financing. While at Sunstar, Suraj also contributed to the redevelopment and reopening of several limited service hotels/motels and assisted its sister company, Samton Financial

Suraj began his career as a Revenue and Operations Associate at Sunstar where he coached newly-hired operations managers at the firm’s portfolio of hotel, retail and commercial properties on revenue management, marketing, employee retention and technology best practices.  Suraj honed his extensive analytical skills teaching high school advanced placement and honors math and science classes for Chicago’s Public Schools.

Education and Affiliations

Suraj has a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and a Master of Education from Chicago’s DePaul University.  He is a graduate of the Cornell University’s Certificate Program in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management and a member of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
