Cody Harper Joins Mag Mile Capital As Vice President of Originations

CHICAGO – Mag Mile Capital is pleased to announce that Cody Harper has joined the team as Vice President of Originations and will be based out of the firm’s Chicago office.

In his new role with Mag Mile, Harper will be responsible for originating and closing transactions for clients, providing capital advisory, as well as procuring new relationships for the firm. He will report directly to Matt Weilgus, Head of Originations.

“We are excited to welcome Cody Harper to our Chicago Originations team,” said Rushi Shah, principal & CEO of Mag Mile Capital. “Cody’s experiences as professional equity fundraiser, as well as a direct lender in construction financing will be beneficial to both our team and clients. He will also open a new network of resources to the firm through his strong connections with his alma-maters, UW Madison and Chicago Booth.”

Harper will create value for clients by leveraging the Mag Mile Capital platform and $5 billion of real estate debt financing and equity placement experience, comprehensive of all major property types.  His analytical skills and relationship management acumen were sharpened in his previous roles in structured finance at DBRS, where he rated CMBS transactions, and in business advisory at Huron, where he delivered strategic finance and technology solutions to C-level executives across a spectrum of industries.

Harper also developed deep insight into capital structuring, underwriting, and originations working at Citigroup, Capmark Finance, and GMAC Commercial Mortgage, spearheading the execution of construction-period and permanent loan financings capitalized by tax-exempt bonds, low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) syndication, and agency (FNMA/FHLMC) forward funding commitments. Throughout his 20-year career, he has facilitated the ground-up development and adaptive-reuse of more than five million square feet of office, retail, and industrial properties, and the construction and preservation of more than 7,600 multifamily apartment units nationally.

Harper earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an International Business specialization from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. He began his career in New York City at Ernst & Young in Real Estate Advisory Services. He is also a licensed Real Estate Managing Broker in Illinois.
